Kayaking or canoeing early in the morning on a calm Maine lake or ocean off the coast of Bar Harbor near Acadia National Park, is difficult to beat. The misty fog hangs over the water like a mystic veil. A loon or other water bird will break the surface just as a droplet of water drips from the paddle. With a faint splash, it creates circle after circle that radiate outward just as the sunlight breaks over the horizon in a golden glow.
